safeguard scored 5 runs in three innings and then played 
solid team defense to hold off pizzatime . Offensively 
safeguard was led by Doug mccracken 4 for 4 , Lou post,
Hank pic, joe Karam , joe Prisco , Gerald freer , and 
joe Pennachio  all 3 for 3 and Vic Feit with 3 rbi

Picture Perfect over EastDale 17-7

Picture Perfect
Prior to the Opening Day Game on May 8th, 
Eastdale Village and Picture Perfect Portraits players 
lined up on the First Base and Third Base foul lines 
and held a "Moment of Silence" for Sal Cioffi - 
one of our Softball League's "Founding Members" 
and also the League's Commissioner for many years. 


Picture Perfect Portraits defeated Eastdale Village 17-7.    
For Picture Perfect, Rodney Deloatch batted 4 for 4 with 
a double and 3 RBIs;  Steve Savod and Jim Winslow batted
 4 for 5, and Mike Haas and Gary Lasko batted 3 for 5.  
 Dick Michels belted two doubles and had 3 RBIs. 
Steve Lynch was the Winning Pitcher with George Hammer 
pitching the last two innings in relief.      

Key defensive plays were made by Gary Lasko in 
deep Left-Centerfield, and Shortstop Rodney Deloatch - 
who made a diving catch of a ground ball up the middle, 
and while stretched out on his stomach, 
tossed the ball to 2nd Base for a force-out.     

THE CATCH OF THE GAME however was by Eastdale's defense:   
A hard-hit line drive glanced off First Baseman Fred Taber's 
outstretched glove to his right, and 2nd Baseman 
Gene Daley was able to catch the deflected 
ball in mid-air.

A Great Defensive game, GB started the
 scoring by putting a one spot on the board, 
EastDale came right back and scored 3. 
That score would hold up until the 
bottom of the 4th when EastDale 
score another run to make it 4-1 
then EastDale scored 5 in the 5th 
inning making it 9-1 but Greenbaum 
scored 5 in the top of the 6th to cut 
the lead to 2.....EastDale scored a 
insurance run in the bottom of the 7 
to make it 10-6 in the top of the 
8th Greenbaum mounted a threat but 
a unbelievable diving grab by Jim D'Aleo 
on a hard line drive too his left , 
took the air out of the rally.

hold on in the bottom of the 8th

in a game that lasted 2 hours 
and 26 minutes, Taxbrakes defeated
Stan's by a score of 31 to 26. 
There were 7 lead changes during 
the course of this game. 
At the start of the 8th inning Stan's 
had a 1 run lead. Taxbrakes scored 
15 runs in the top of the 8th which 
did not discourage Stan's from 
mounting a 9 run bottom 8th to 
fall a little short.

Today on Digilio field and celebrating 
our newest national holiday Juneteenth, 
Taxbrakes defeated Eastdale by 
a score 17 to 4. Unfortunately 
Eastdale who was playing shorthanded 
on the league's largest field, 
Taxbrakes got out to a 9 run lead 
and never looked back scoring 
runs in all but 1 inning.
